SPONSORSHIP

MAJOR SPONSORS TO DATE

Goals & Objectives

  1. Build relationships between students and design professionals
  2. Investigate the role of design in cities of difference
  3. Explore the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of being a World Design Capital and Capital of Culture
  4. Study the socio-political influence on space making in each city with a focus on public space and housing strategies

The University of Cape Town’s, Master of Architecture class of 2013 will produce a post-tour publication and film (available to the public) and host an exhibition depicting the outcomes of our research based in Istanbul. This will provide all interested parties the opportunity to gain knowledge of our findings and offer exposure to sponsors.

Achieving this outcome

Relationships have already been established with students and local design professionals in Istanbul with the intention of establishing connections with the two most well-known architecture institutions, the state Istanbul Technical University and the private Bilgi University. These institutions have been chosen as they are known to select top students and foster international student and professional relationships. Our intention is to organise workshops with the students and designers to facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge.

We aim to collaborate with the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts and Istanbul Design Centre to attend architectural seminars and workshops hosted by these organisations, making our tour culturally enlightening and academically invaluable.
All findings and events will be updated on
Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and our website allowing design students, sponsors and the public to share our findings.

Budget (Estimate)
